Scottsdale, AZ- David L. Darby, 79, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday March 6, 2022, at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Az. He was born on Dec. 30, 1942, in Columbus, OH to Charles and Florence Gill Darby.
Surviving are his 3 children, Tom (Kim) Darby of Danville, Matt Darby of Scottsdale, Az., and Stephanie Darby of Peoria, Az., and His brother James ‘Big Jim” (Caroline) Darby of Sun City West, Az and 3 grandchildren, Alexis (Cole) Anderson, Jake and Carson Darby of Danville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
David attended Bismarck High School in Bismarck, IL. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. David was co-owner of Sunset Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Cremation Center and Greenwood Incorporated in Danville until his retirement in 1992. He had previously been active in the Danville Kiwanis Club. David loved dogs, cars, and most of all flying airplanes. He was a pilot for over 50 years.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 15, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park’s Swan Court Chapel. Services are to be private.
