Yolanda Dipinto Colwell Cook

Yolanda Ann DiPinto Colwell Cook, 81 of Danville, passed this life at 9:50am on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on August 4, 1927, on the Isle of Capri, Italy, the daughter of Vincenzo and Francesca DiPinto. She was a WWII bride, marrying Charles E. Colwell, then arriving in the United States in 1946 and shortly afterward, became a naturalized US Citizen. On June 7, 1958, Yolanda then married Mr. Bobby H. Cook. Yolanda is survived and will be missed by her two sons, William V. (Sue) Colwell of Catlin, IL, and Bruce A. (and his beloved girlfriend, Nancy Lutz) Cook, of Olathe, KS. Her granddaughter, Tasha L. Cook of Olathe, KS, her brother, Mario (Diana) DiPinto of Oxford England, her three sisters, Angelina (Federico) DiStefano of Capri, Italy, Maria (Bill) Bordak of Amsterdam, N.Y., Ida (John) Buchanan of Kingsport, TN, and many of her nieces and nephews and her three close friends, Vera Holycross, Barbara Graves, and Tina Vaughn. Her parents, husband, Bobby Cook, and one brother, Antonio, precede Yolanda in death. Yolanda was employed by the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Danville, Estad Products, and Chuckles Candy Factory in Danville until retirement. She was a very dear and caring mother and individual who dearly loved her family and her many friends. She faced many challenges throughout her life, but was able to overcome most of them with determination. Though short in stature, she had an enormous will and achieved many accomplishments throughout her life. She loved working with flowers, (especially roses), and Italian cooking. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, swimming, and simply being able to put her feet in the ocean whenever possible.
