Danville Yia Vang, 68, of Covington, LA, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at 9:02 AM at Saint Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, Louisiana on October 3, 2021.
Yia was born on April 14, 1953 the son of Fatong and Dia (Xiong) Vang in Xieng Khouang, Laos. He married My Thao on April 14, 1972 and she survives of Covington, LA.
Yia is survived by his wife, My Vang, his children, David (Maya) Vang of Covington, LA, Daniel (Blia) Vang of Covington, LA, Degaull (Rio) Vang of Green Bay, WI, Robert (Phoua) Vang of Covington, LA, Charlotte Vang of Atwater, CA, Myny Vang (Tong) Yang of Fond Du Lac, WI, Rebecca Vang (Michael) Her of Mansfield, TX, five brothers, (Xiong Yang Vang, Ko Vang, You Vang, By Vang, Geu Vang), two sisters, (Xia Vang Xiong, Pay Vang Xiong), and 14 grandkids (Melouisa Vang, Theodore Vang, Naomi Vang, Dominic Yang, Solomon Vang, Aleta Vang, Evangeline Vang, Anais Lo, Aneka Vang, Olivia Yang, Leo Her, Edward Vang, Luna Her, and Ezra Vang).
Yia is preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother, and one sister.
Yia graduated from University of Sisavangvong in Laos as a Math & Science Professor and was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, IL. He worked at Quaker Oats for 30 years. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandkids and vacationing.
A Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Nixon Vang will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9:00 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
