Wm. 'Hughie' Johnson

William Hugh Hughie Johnson, 62, of Vermilion Grove passed away at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday January 30, 2008 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. He was born on January 8, 1946 in Cayuga, IN the son of Carl and Bernadette (Carpenter) Johnson. He married Ruth Kyger on April 3, 1966 in Humrick, IL. She survives. Also surviving; two sons, Troy Hugh (Kelley) Johnson of Camp Point, IL and Terry Lee Johnson of Jacksonville, IL; one daughter, Tammie Elaine Johnson of Vermilion Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Brittni Johnson, Amanda Young, Christopher Young, Ryan Steinsdoerfer, and Brock Johnson; three sisters, K.arla (Harry) Jacobsen of Crawfordsville, IN, Mary Ann McCoy of Humrick, and Darlene Edwards of Danville; two brothers, Carl Lee (Vickie) Johnson of Ridge Farm, IL, and Mark (Sylvia) Johnson of Ridge Farm, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bernadette Johnson. Hughie graduated from Ridge Farm High School in 1964. He retired from GM in 1993. He was a member of the UAW and the Illiana Bow Club. Hughie loved hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. He also liked cooking beans. He loved playing music, shooting trap, and especially enjoyed being with his friends and family. A celebration of Hughies life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday February 4, 2008 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Pastor James Blue will be officiating. Burial will be at Vermilion Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday February 3, 2008 at the funeral home.
