Oakwood- Winifred "Winnie" R. Taylor, 80, of Oakwood passed away at 8:20 PM on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, but had previously been staying at the Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford. She was born on June 5, 1931 in Hammond, IN to Fred and Dorothy Couse Jeffers. She married Donald Forrest Taylor on October 22, 1948 in Danville. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1991. Surviving are 4 children, Dianna (Mike) Smith of TX, Donna (Ron) Lawless of Potomac, Debbie (Charlie) Hosler of Oakwood, and Dave W. (Pam) Taylor of Oakwood; 3 brothers, Richard "Dick" Jeffers of Springfield, Fred Jeffers of Ft. Myers, FL, and Delbert (Dianna) Jeffers of Hegler, IL; sister Francis (Bob) Mackiewicz of Danville; and sister-in-law Hazel (Jim) Hoosier of Ridge Farm; 9 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and special dog Oscar. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Nick, great-grandson Zachary, and sister-in-law Sue. Winnie mostly attended Georgetown Schools and worked at several places including GE and Magnavox. Her career took her to Tupperware where she worked for 20 years, 10 years as a manager. She was a member at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Oakwood. Winnie had a special gift for making crafts and a green thumb for flower gardening. She also enjoyed going out to eat, shopping, and going with friends to Tupperware conventions. She was an avid Illini Basketball and Chicago Cubs fan. A service to celebrate the life of Winifred Taylor will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel. Pastor Carolyn Ludington will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, August 3, also at Sunset in Oakwood. Memorials may be made to the Oakwood Evangelical Methodist Church.
