Newport, Ind. -- Wilson A. Kinderman, 89, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 5:45 a.m. EST Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born May 8, 1919 in Cayuga, Indiana, the son of the late Alexander and Mary Margaret Richardson Kinderman. He married Charlotte I. Davis on January 9, 1943 in Belton, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2004. Survivors include: one daughter, Nila(Jim)Moore of Dana, Indiana; two sons, Dennis(Angie)Kinderman of Dana, Indiana and Scott(Michelle)Kinderman of Newport, Indiana; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Delp of Cayuga, Indiana and Virginia Baldwin of Attica, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild; two sisters and three brothers. Wilson was a retired carpenter, working 57 years for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during W.W. II serving in the 809TH Tank Destroyer Division in the European Theater. He was a member of the Eugene United Methodist Church and the Newport American Legion Post #184. Wilson enjoyed gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana with military graveside rites conducted by the Newport American Legion Post #184; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Eugene United Methodist Church, C/O Mrs. Richard Axtell, 5227 North Water Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928.
