Wilma "Wimmy" Ann {Ridens} Filebark, born March 24, 1940, in Texas City, Illinois, to William and Dorthy {Stettler} Ridens. Wimmy passed away on May 18, 2026, in Hoopeston, Illinois. A graduate of Schlarman High School in the class of 1958, Wilma devoted her career to serving others, retiring from the VA hospital after years of dedicated work.
Wilma’s proudest accomplishment was being a loving mother to her son, Eric Filebark. Known among family and friends for her sharp wit and formidable knowledge of Harry Potter trivia, she could best anyone who dared challenge her. A lifelong avid reader, Wilma found joy in the pages of many books and nurtured a deep passion for the St. Louis Cardinals, faithfully supporting her team through seasons thick and thin. Her love of travel often led her to explore the historic places of the United States, enriching her appreciation for the nation’s heritage.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Joyce Lawson and Linda Johnson. Wilma is survived by her son, Eric Filebark; sisters Janet (John) Becker and Karen (Steve) Lyons; brother Michael (Carol) Ridens; nieces Christy Johnson, Stephanie Woolley, Lisa Brown, Laura Gardner, and Elizabeth Byrnes, Emily Martin; nephew Wil Lyons; and five great-nieces who will cherish her memory.
Wilma Ann Filebark’s life reflected kindness, strength, and a fervent curiosity of the world around her. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
