Wilma M Ashenbremer

Wilma (Wilhelmine) Kasik Ashenbremer, 94, of Danville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. She passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's for many years. Wilma was born on February 05, 1925 the daughter of Ludwig and Maria Kasik in Vienna, Austria. They precede her in death.

Also preceding Wilma in death include Jerry, her husband of 71 years who passed in December of 2018; her youngest son, Rusty, who passed away at the age of 1; as well as her sisters and brother.

Wilma leaves behind her two sons, Rand (Pam) Ashenbremer and Rick (Connie) Ashenbremer; two grandchildren, Meagan (Bob) Weber and Ian Ashenbremer; two great-grandsons, Griffen and Hayden Weber; and some nieces and nephews in Vienna.

During World War II she was drafted into the German Air Force. She met Jerry while he was serving in the US Army. After the war she moved to Illinois and became a citizen in 1953.

Wilma studied design and eventually became a Master Tailor. She was extremely talented in all the arts. She made clothes, crafts and did upholstery work. In later years, she made a name for herself making Teddy Bears out of old fur coats. She also painted and was a regular at local craft shows.

She was an avid cub scout leader and room mother when her sons were young. She was very proud of her children and especially her grandchildren. Sadly, her Alzheimer's prevented her from fully enjoying her Great Grandchildren.
