Wilma Jean Morman, 87, of Danville, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at 12:26 pm at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 5, 1925 in Danville to Daniel and Leatha (Knight) Ray. Wilma married Verlon Leroy Morman on May 5, 1945 in Danville. Survivors include two sons, Donald (Penny) LeRoy Morman and Thomas Neil Morman both of Danville; one daughter, Sandra Kay (Tom) Sherman of West Columbia, S.C.; one daughter in-law, Maria Morman-Hillard of Danville; one son in-law, Gary Smith of Danville; one sister, Norma (Philip) Correl of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Verlon; two sons, Daniel Ray and one stillborn infant; one daughter, Sheila Smith; three sisters, Ethel, Evelyn and Bonnie; and three brothers, Lionel, Jack and Rayford. She was lovingly nicknamed "Grandma Cricket" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma was a hummingbird fanatic and enjoyed watching and feeding them. She was the best cook ever and hosted many family gatherings and fish fries. She enjoyed camping and collecting angel figurines. Wilma is dearly loved and was a wonderful mom and grandma who doted on her family. She will be greatly missed. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wilma's name may be made to the VA Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
