Murfreesboro, Tennessee -- Wilma J. Shell McClellan, 71, of Murfreesboro and formerly of Covington, Indiana passed away at 2:58 p.m. CDT Saturday, July 4, 2009 in Murfreesboro. She was born January 2, 1938 near Newport, Indiana the daughter of the late Edmund B. and Marie Burke Shell. Survivors include: three sons, David E.(Cindy)Samford of Springfield, Missouri; Daniel E.(Mendy)Samford of St. Joseph, Missouri and Dwayne Samford of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Brandy Criss and Kristen Samford both of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandsons, Kyle and Kory Samford both of Springfield, Missouri; three great grandchildren; one sister, Alma Market of Rockville, Indiana and one brother, Marvin Joe(Martha)Shell of Clinton, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by an infant brother and a brother in law, Robert L. Market. Wilma worked ten years at the former Covington Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covington, and attended Christian Union Church north of Perrysville, Indiana. Wilma was a 1955 graduate of Newport High School. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting owls, listening to country music and traveling. Funeral services: Noon EDT Thursday, July 9, 2009 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to Parkinson's Research: The Organized Initiative Cases and Unrelated Subjects (PROGENI CARES) Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics, 410 W. 10th Street HS-4000, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202-3002 in her memory.
