Wilma Jean (Yeats) Courson of Danville, IL met her Lord and Savior October 4, 2015 at home with family surrounding her. Wilma was a precious gift, born November 28, 1934 to Raymond O. Yeats and Grace (Esworthy) Yeats. Both preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Danville, IL where she attended Washington grade school and Danville high school. Wilma married Robert Courson, Sr. on February 13, 1953. They are blessed with two children; Dr. Robert C. Courson, Jr. (Linda) of Bedford, IN and Pamela J. Hewitt (Paul) of Holly Springs, NC. Wilma and Robert have six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; grandson Tony (Audrey) Courson of Poland, IN have two children Logan and Jackson, grandson Nick (Heather) Courson of Columbus, IN, granddaughter Elizabeth (Neil) Beaty of Champaign, IL have two children Nicholas and Brooke, granddaughter Alexandra Waldrip of Springville, IN has two children Ashlynn and Hayden, grandson Paul N. Hewitt II (Kate) of Houston, TX have three children Ashley, Lauren, and Paul N. III, granddaughter Jennifer (Ryan) Turnquist of Frisco, TX have two children Greyson and Harper. Wilma had nine siblings. She is survived by two sisters Ruby Stacey of Danville, IL, and Ruth Weaver of Tilton, IL. She is preceded in death by Fontella Collins of Buchannon, MI, Raymond Yeats of Rossville, IL, Melvin Yeats of Gibson City, IL, Rena Bullock of Danville, IL, Dorothy Richmond of Clearwater, FL, Virginia Auter of Danville, IL, and Janice Ramsey of Danville, IL. Wilma loved traveling, decorating the home, gardening, cooking, shopping, and helping her husband renovate old homes. Her main joys in life were her church, her grandchildren, and helping and aiding others in all ways. Wilma was not employed outside the home after 1953. Upon accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior in March 1946, Wilma based her life entirely on Christian principals'. Her driving forces were giving, loving, and providing service to family, friends, and those in need. Wilma was fun and a joy to be around. She was loved by so many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Danville, IL. Funeral Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 7th from 4pm-8pm. Service will be on Thursday, October 8th at 10am with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Robert C. Courson, son of Robert and Wilma, will officiate the home going service. Contributions may be made to Carle Hospice Care, 206A W Anthony Dr., Champaign, IL 61822.
