Wilma Barry

Danville, IL - Wilma Barry, 88, a retired beautician for 60 years in Danville and a community volunteer, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Liberty Estates in Danville, IL. She was born on October 1, 1927, in Loda, Illinois, the daughter of John and Elma (Smethurst) Maskal. Wilma married William C. Barry on April 23, 1950 at Rankin United Methodist Church in Rankin, IL. Wilma is survived by her sisters Betty (Warren) Beck of Boerne, TX; Dorothy Bromley of Denver, CO; and Ruby (Richard) Bushue of Rankin, IL; 14 nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Susanna Coats. Wilma was self employed for 60 years as the owner of the Beauty Box. After she retired, she and a 60-year customer were featured in a local news story. Wilma was devoted to her customers and in return, her customers were very loyal. Wilma was active in the Danville community. She volunteered for 27 years at the Strawberry Patch at Danville Manor. Wilma is a past member of the Sweet Adeline choir and Vermilion County Home Extension. She enjoyed the friendship of her "Card Gang", and she and her husband, Bill, loved to attend sports games of Danville High School. Wilma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Danville. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in Wilma's name to First Presbyterian Church of Danville.
