Willodean Garrett

Willodean Vaughn Garrett joined her husband, Dean Garrett, in heaven on Friday, February 10, 2023. Willodean was born in Barren County, Kentucky on December 11, 1938. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 10am. Both visitation and funeral service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home at 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820.

Willodean and Dean were made for each other. They were a very active couple. They worked together and you rarely saw one without the other. They shared 52 years together on this Earth; but Willodean once said that in her mind and heart, she was still married. Willodean and Dean managed their own janitorial service for most of their lives while creating a family.

Willodean was a loving and dutiful daughter. She was a strong wife and dedicated mother. She had the ultimate pleasure in life of becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. She opened her heart and her door to all who needed it.

Willodean was a devout Christian, and her faith gave her strength through the good times and the bad. Willodean loved being with people & talking about Jesus. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege and joy to meet her.

Willodean is the daughter of the late Elmer Esco Vaughn and Hallie Mae Disman Vaughn.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Dean Garrett; 2 sons, Jeffery Dean Garrett and Steve Garrett; 3 sisters, Clarine Cherry, Irene Franklin, Rose Ault; and 1 brother, Rex Vaughn

She is survived by 3 sons, Robert Garrett & wife Michelle of Phoenix, AZ, Gary Garrett, Derrick Garrett and wife Christina of Champaign, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Chrissy Courtney-Garrett, Annie Garrett, Hailey Garrett, Joelle Garrett and Quinton Garrett; 2 great grandchildren, Cierra Garrett and Daniel Bridges; 2 brothers, Max Vaughn and Daskel Vaughn of Scottsville, KY; 2 sisters, Susie Roderick of Champaign, IL and Nell Farley of Scottsville, KY.
