William Williams

William (Bill) “Hamburger Bill” Williams, 77, of Covington, Indiana, who left his family peacefully on December 20, 2024, with a heavy heart as they announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of our community. Bill was born the son of Ruby and Leonard Waldon, born August 9, 1947, in Laurel, Maryland. Bill married the love of his life Peggy Vannest on January 8, 1967, they enjoyed 58 years of marriage but have been sweethearts since they were ten years old. 

Bill leaves behind his children; Sara (Scott) McLain, and Denise (Jim) Royce, his grandchildren; Skyler, Samantha (Chase) Vestal, McKenna (Megan), William (his fiancé Faith), Heather (Steven) Leveridge, and Emily (Brandon) great grandchildren; Aubree, Karlee, Conner, Zoey, Wrigley, and Julian.

 Bill was passionate about his family, old cars, and there wasn’t a fish he couldn’t catch. A faithful member of Sterling Christian Church. Bill co owned and operated two different restaurants along with Peggy. For the last seven years or so, Bill has been the sexton at Mount Hope Cemetery where he helped people, making hard decisions on where to place their loved one and kept the place looking good mowing and weed eating. He will be missed by all who know him and enjoyed his sense of humor.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday December 28, 2024, from 10-12 est. at Sterling Christian Church 701 South Sterling Avenue Veedersburg, Indiana, 47987. A memorial service will take place at the church at 12 est. Please come dressed casual with a fishing shirt or a old car shirt. Per Bill’s wishes cremation rights have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 420 3rd Street Covington, Indiana. With a private graveside at a later time.
