William Virgil Wangler passed from this life on Monday, February 09, 2009 at Provena USMC in Danville. Born on April 16, 1924, in Tilton, to August and Etta (Winkler) Wangler. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Styer, Maxine Wangler, and his brother, Lawrence Wangler. Bill first worked on the Wabash Railroad, then as an automobile mechanic at Packard Agency, B.P. Motors. He worked many years as service manager at Shepherd Lincoln-Mercury before retiring as body shop manager at Noble Motors in 1991. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hilda (Claypool) Wangler, four children, Peggy (Howard) Carrell, Lynn (John) Childs, Bill (Candy) Wangler, and Brian (Lindy) Wangler. His eight grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Eldridge, Brad (Julie) King, Eric Childs, Amanda (Phil) Cox, Amy (Aaron) Hird, Nicholas, Nathan, Natalie Wangler, and his nine great-grandchildren; Lindsay and Carter Eldridge, Tomas, Sage, and Dillon King, Landon and Payton Cox, and Bracie, and Brycie Hird. Bill treasured his wife, cherished his family, and cared deeply about people. As a member of the Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years, he served God and passionately shared his faith with people.
