William W Rickgauer, 85, of Danville, passed away at 2:29 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. He was born March 23, 1927 in Pekin, Illinois, the son of William E. and Julia M. Thomas Rickgauer. He married Barbara Jean Hankins on February 3, 1948,in Danville. She survives. Other survivors include 5 children, Marla (Dennis)Rickgauer Senft of New River, Arizona, Pamela Rickgauer, Randall Rickgauer, Blair Rickgauer, and William (Misty) Rickgauer, all of Danville; one brother, Richard Rickgauer of Pekin; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Brent, 2 sisters and 1 brother. William served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He later worked as a firefighter for the city of Danville for approximately 15 years after returning home from the military. He worked as a foreman for the Hyster Company until 1978, then moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona and worked construction until his retirement in 1990. William enjoyed golfing and fishing. As per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Danville National Cemetery. Officiating services will be Rev. James Blue. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #210 of Danville.
