William W Hadix

Casey William W. Hadix, 72, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He died with his son Jesse by his side via facetime thanks to the nurses at Carle. He was born on January 20, 1948 in Petoskey, MI to Jesse and Betty (Moser) Hadix.

William is survived by his children Becky Mathers of Boyne City, MI, Amza and Rene Hadix of Florence, OR, Matthew Hadix of Harbor Springs, MI, Jesse and Tami Hadix of Harbor Springs, MI, Samuel and Tracey Hadix of Petoskey, MI, and Amanda Hadix of FL; grandchildren Alex, Letitia, Montana, Wyatt, Trevor, Kassidy, Sydney, Max, Jorge, Alex, and Rowan; great-grandchild Alucard Hadix; siblings Jerry and Paula Hadix of Boyne City, MI, Dan and Shirley Cikalo of WI, Judy Hadix of FL, and Steve Gillespie of OK; many nieces and nephews; special friends in the community including Chuck and Sylvia Neese, Mary and Hope, Edward Kasey Applegate and daughters; and his dogs Itty Bitty and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tuffer Hadix, sister Ruby Gillespie, and nephew Josh Hadix.

William enjoyed fishing, hunting, morel mushroom picking, blackberry picking, and going on drives through the country. He enjoyed putting together puzzles with his special friend Mary. He liked to do crossword puzzles and watch wresling and old westerns on TV. William enjoyed site seeing, attending social gatherings, and helping out those less fortunate with things they needed. He loved to share his experience with others on his war time services and always took time to talk to other vets and thank them for their service. William was very proud of his childrens and grandchildrens success in education and life. He always made sure to send his grandchildren cards for all occasions.

William served active duty in the United States Army and was a wounded war veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Private First Class, 11th armored cavalry regiment, and a scout observer with troop G 2nd squadron. He received a silver star, bronze star, Purple Heart, and other war time awards.
