William T. 'Tom' Coe

William T. "Tom" Coe passed away May 1, 2024, on his 80th birthday at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Tom was born May 1, 1944, in Danville, the son of Alice and Ed Maloney.

On January 29, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Luke, and the two of them loved living life together for 57 years.

Surviving Tom are his beloved wife, Carol; his children, whom he was so proud of, Tami Coe of Indianapolis, IN and Brian (Minda) Coe of Cary, NC; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Brannen and Ellie Coe of Cary, NC; his brothers, Jim (Janet) Maloney of Zionsville, IN and John (Ginny) Maloney of Eglin, IL; his aunt, Emily Hackney of Sarasota, FL; and several special nieces and nephews. Tom also leaves behind many good friends that were like an extended family to him.

Together, Tom and Carol owned and operated Maries Carpet Manor for many years. After his retirement, Tom worked at Anker Florist delivering flowers and making people happy with beautiful bouquets.

Tom was a member of CrossRoads Christian Church in Danville. He was a proud 50-year member of The Elks. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He belonged to the DHS football "Chain Gang" for many years. He enjoyed being on the water fishing and a good game of golf. He loved all sports and especially his Cubs baseball. Tom was full of an immense amount of knowledge. He loved talking with people and always had a story for everyone.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 10AM Saturday, May 11, 2024, with Terry Jones officiating at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9AM-10AM at the funeral home in Danville.
