William Robert "Bob" Jones

Newport, Ind. -- William Robert "Bob" Jones, 78, of Newport, passed away at 10:55 a.m. CDT Friday, April 15, 2011 at the VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville, Illinois. He was born October 27, 1932 in Cayuga, Indiana, the son of the late Thomas Higgins and Sylvia M. Nash Jones. He married Jane Durham on October 11, 1998 in Covington, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Leigh Ellen(Danny Nederoff)Becker of Apex, North Carolina; step daughter, Marla(Todd)Gee of Fishers, Indiana; step son, Mark(Amy)Heidbrider of Cayuga, Indiana; five grandchildren; sister, Mary Ellen(Bern)May of Indianapolis, Indiana and brother, Richard "Dick"(Lois)Jones of Canyon Lake, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, David Jones. Bob was a self employed truck driver. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars serving with the United States Army. He attended the Friends Church in Newport, Indiana. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Cayuga High School. His memberships included the Cayuga American Legion Post #263, Perrysville Unity Lodge #344 F&AM and the Perrysville Chapter #302 O.E.S. Bob enjoyed working on his yard and watching basketball and baseball. Memorial service: 2 P.M. EDT Saturday, April 23, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana with a Masonic Service and Military Rites; Officiating: Pastor Ramona Trover. There will be no visitation. Family request contributions be made to the Illiana Health Care System, C/O Palliative Care Ward, Bld. 101-4, 1900 East Main Street, Danville, Illinois 61832.
