William Ricky Spivey, 62, of Danville, passed away at 12:14pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 12, 1949 in Lebanon, IND, the son of George and Clara (Cummins) Spivey. Both are deceased. On April 30, 1988, Ricky married Catherine Jacobs in Georgetown. She survives along with three children; Michael (Kim) List of Rossville, IL, Malia (Bryan) Gill of LeRoy, IL, and Sara Jean Spivey of Danville. His six grandchildren; Danielle Sirmans, Tyler Price, Jordan Price, Kaitlyn Gill, Anthony List, Joseph Sandoval, two great-grandchildren; Clayton Jessen Sirmans, and Jaysen Whytte Sirmans also survive Ricky, as well as his brother; Ronald (Tess) Spivey of Cayuga, IND, and his sister; Helen Shaw of Bourbonnais, IL. In addition to his parents, his brother, James Ray Spivey preceded him in death. Ricky graduated from Danville High School in 1967. He was a member of the Danville United Church of Christ and helped with Sunday school class, volunteering as a youth leader, and also served on the Danville United Church of Christ Council, serving several positions. He retired from Danville Metal Stampings and was an avid NASCAR, Illini, and Chicago Cubs Fan. He enjoyed golfing, especially the Father's day outing with his sons, teaching them the finer points of winning. Ricky also enjoyed going to NASCAR races with his friend and two nephews, as well as fishing, and camping trips with his wife Cathy and his camping buddies. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of Life Service for William Ricky Spivey has been scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the funeral home. Per his wishes, Ricky will be cremated after the services and entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the Spivey family has suggested that memorial donations be made in Ricky's name to the Danville United Church of Christ and/or Carle Hospice.
