William Rae Strubinger of Pittsboro, IN, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Rae was born near Ridge Farm, IL, on June 11, 1927, to George Ralph and Martha Jane {Pugh} Strubinger. He was joined in marriage to Ruey Jeane Simpson on January 23, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She survives. He attended Yankee Point and Harrison Grade Schools and graduated from Ridge Farm High School in 1945, after which he went into farming. Rae accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on June 10, 1956. He loved the Lord and was an active member in Bethel Baptist Church, serving for several years as a deacon. He enjoyed several short term missionary trips where he helped missionaries with construction projects. He served as a board member of the Christian Servicemen Centers for several years and worked with Gideons International. When his children attended Harrison Grade School, he served several years on the school board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, woodworking, and flying his airplane. In 1977, Rae was seriously injured in a farm accident. From that time on he was cared for at home by his wife. Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Starns of Pittsboro, IN, and Gail (Sam) Huff of Pickens, SC, and a son, Roger Strubinger of Kingman, IN; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Starns, Dr. Joel (Suzanne) Starns, Ruey (Joe) Sandusky, Rebekah Huff, Ruth (Vas) Bala, Glen Huff, Coleman Huff, & James (Melody) Strubinger; seven great grandchildren, Alexis & Jared & William Sandusky, Jackson & Jude Starns, Julian Starns, and Jaxson & Parker Strubinger; a sister, Mary (David) Walthall of Dunedin, FL; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Martha; a sister, Helen Herlitz; and a brother, Ralph Edward Strubinger. A celebration of Rae's life will be held at 12:00pm (noon), Friday, October 19, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church, Georgetown, with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola. Memorials may be given in his name to the Christian Servicemen Centers or Gideons International.
