It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of William Lee (Bill) Moehring on June 9, 2026, in the loving company of his family at his home in Mahomet, Illinois. Bill was born on February 12, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Richard and Betty (Kendall) Moehring.
Bill graduated in 1968 at Easton High School and furthered his education at the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1972. He also served as a medic in the US Army Reserves from 1969 to 1975.
On October 28, 1979, Bill married Mary Pat Murphy, with whom he shared an enduring and loving partnership. Together, they raised their child, Caley Moehring Sullivan, who, along with their husband Ben, brought immense joy to Bill's life.
Bill's professional career was a testament to his expertise. As a certified public accountant, he made contributions across the country. Upon returning to Illinois in 1996, Bill transitioned into the insurance industry with Country Companies before returning to accounting and founded Paragon Consulting Associates providing forensic accounting services.
A man of deep faith, Bill was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Mahomet, where he served as Council President for several years. His commitment to service extended to community. As a member of the Lions Club, he held positions of Treasurer, Vice President, and eventually President. He also served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the Village of Mahomet.
Bill was known for his quick wit and friendliness, qualities that endeared him to those who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, touching many with his generosity and warmth. Whether he was perfecting his golf swing or tinkering in his garage workshop (man cave), Bill approached life with enthusiasm and spirit.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Pat; his child, Caley, and their husband, Ben; his sister, Diane (Moehring) Bahl; his brother, James; and an extensive family of 18 nieces and nephews, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Betty Moehring.
A service to honor and celebrate Bill's life will be held on June 22, 2026, at The Lutheran Church of Mahomet, located at 410 Andover Drive, Mahomet, Illinois. Visitation from 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. with the service immediately following at 1:30. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either The Lutheran Church of Mahomet or Marion Medical Mission in his memory.
The Moehring family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Carle Hospice Care of Bloomington, as well as the compassionate caregivers of Home Instead and Oneness Health Care, for their attentive and kind care during Bill's final days.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Rd. is honored to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
