William C. Lane

William Clarence Lane, 85, of Urbana, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. He was born in Urbana on September 17, 1940, the son of Clarence Lane and Imogene Mathews.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Lane; daughters, Kathy (Randall) Blue, and Susan Spencer; grandchildren, Ryan, Kara, Buddy, Amy (Derek), Catie (John), Sarah (Jesse), and Michael (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Clayton, Makena, Shawn, and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Hampel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Imogene; sons, Timothy and Christopher; and siblings, Earl and Glayda.

William worked as a mechanical engineer for many years before retirement. Outside of his career, he enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He also loved tinkering in the garage, where he could explore and experiment with different projects.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2025, at the St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 205 N. 3rd St., St. Joseph, IL 61873. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church.
