William Lacombe

William Michael LaCombe, Sr., 74, of Danville, passed away at 7:28 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He left with grace and dignity with family at his side. He will be forever loved and greatly missed. Bill was born January 15, 1934, in Negaunee, Michigan, the son of Oral J. and Eileen McDonnell LaCombe. He married his high school sweetheart, Jewell N. Perrone, on June 26, 1954 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Anthony Allen LaCombe and Michael Shane LaCombe, both of Danville; two sisters, Julie Howie and Orion Martin both of Danville; four grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, Kalin and Rachael LaCombe and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marion Russell, and a son, William Michael LaCombe, Jr. Bill attended St. Patricks Grade School and Schlarman High School, graduating in 1952. He worked for American Bakeries and Interstate Brands as a route supervisor for forty plus years, retiring in 1999. Bill was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and held office in both the 3rd and 4th Degree. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Church where he was an usher. Bill enjoyed swimming, exercising, music, watching old movies on T.V. and playing cards. He was an avid sports fan and had a great love for animals especially his dogs, Tiny and Fluffy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Holy Family Church with Father Ted Pracz as celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Memorials may be made in Bills name to Holy Family Church or Schlarman High School.
