William L. Bill Jarvis, 79, of Danville, passed away at 5:45pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 20, 1931, in Danville, the son of Fred and Wilda (Parker) Jarvis. They are both deceased. On November 8, 1969, Bill married Jeraldine Wieneke in Bethalto, IL. She survives along with their four children. Thomas (Judy) Jarvis of Grays Lake, IL, Michael (Bonnie) Jarvis of Danville, Cynthia (Mark) Courtney of Claysville, Penn, and Linda Defebaugh (Shane Gaskill) of Tilton. His 10 grandchildren, Paul (Nancy) Jarvis, Christine (Mike) McCammon, Daniel (Wendy) Jarvis, Michaelle (Fred) Hammon, J.R. (Krystal) Jarvis, Jeremy (Vadawn) Stroud, Joshua (Leslie) Stroud, Holly (Josh) Byrne, Shawna Defebaugh, and Brett Defebaugh, as well as his 20 great-grandchildren, also survive him. In addition to his parents, his brother, Fred Jarvis preceded Bill in death. He was self-employed, owning and operating, Jarvis Trim Shop in Danville. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville, and the Danville Moose Lodge #1001. Bill enjoyed traveling, watching the Chicago Cubs, and Bears, playing pool, bowling, coaching little league baseball and volunteering his time with the boy scouts. Most of all, Bill cherished the time spent with his family. A Celebration of the Life of William Bill Jarvis will begin at 4:00pm on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St in Danville. Pastor Kent Tibben has been asked to officiate the service. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 3:00pm until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the Jarvis family has asked that donations be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Giving is a Blessing Renovation Fund at 824 East Main Street in Danville. The Jarvis family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Carle Hospice Nursing Staff, Tonya, Lisa, and Julie for all of their wonderful care.
