William J. Smitley

Danville William "Bill" J. Smitley, 56, of Danville passed away at 7:25 PM on October 22, 2020 at his home in Danville, IL.

Bill was born on June 9, 1964 the son of Robert and Judith (Hamer) Smitley in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his father, Robert Smitley, Sr. of Danville, IL, his daughter Alexis Smitley of Berwyn, IL, one brother, Kevin Ostendorf of Joliet, IL, his significant other, Sheila Block, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Judith Smitley, one brother, Robert Smitley, Jr. and one sister, Cheryl Nimrick.

Bill serviced his country in the United States Air Force and was an over the road truck driver for many years. He enjoyed spending his free time watching NASCAR and loved Harley Davidson motorcycles.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. James Blue will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.
