William J. 'Gene' O'Dear

Danville- William J. Gene ODear, 77, of Danville passed away at 3:35 AM on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville. He was born on March 30, 1934 in Quincy, IL to Harold W. and Dora Ann Allensworth ODear. He married Debra See in Las Vegas, NV on April 11, 1986. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Tinder of Catlin, IL and Vicky (Michael)Fester of Arequipa, Peru, South America; three sons, Mike Neal of Festus, MO, Justin (Kari) Neal of Perryville, MO, and Matt (Brandy) Neal, also of Perryville, MO; seven grandchildren, Brandon Tinder, Steve Fester, John Fester, Beth Fester, Wyatt Neal, Makayla Neal, and Lucas Neal; two step-grandchildren Katie and Jacob Farrow; four great-grandchildren, Charity Fester, Caleb Fester, Selena Fester, and Markus Fester; and two step-great grandchildren, Jesse and Aspen Kraus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Bradley Jeremy Tinder. Gene began work as a coal mine operator. He contracted for over 30 years and owned ODear Window Manufacturing. Gene loved life and was a lay preacher. He also enjoyed computers, woodworking and farming. A service to celebrate the life of William ODear will be held at 3 PM on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Brandon Tinder will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset.
