William Ernest Frobose

William Ernest (Bill) Frobose, born in Danville, IL on August 3rd, 1924 in a rented house on Brewer Road by means of a midwife to Ernest Frobose and Pearl Thomas Frobose. He was raised (along with his sister Jean Frobose Byram who was for years the woman's editor for the Danville Commercial New) by his maternal Grandmother and (daughter of a Civil War veteran) Mary Elizabeth Glaze Thomas and George Washington Thomas. William was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Rosemary Leverich Frobose and by his son William Leslie Frobose. He is survived by his son Mark Frobose, his daughter-in-law Nicole Frobose, and his granddaughter Emily Frobose. Throughout his long life, William was known by many names; Bill, Billy, Willy, as well as "Grandpa" and "Uncle Bill". He married Rosemary Leverich in March of 1946 at the First Church of Christ in Covington Indiana and remained faithfully married to her for 61 years until her death in 2008. He was a friend to many and a foe to none. A patriotic American and a Christian, his kind, quiet, humorous, loving and patient demeanor hid a great inner emotional strength that was forged in the fires of extreme poverty during the Great Depression. His quiet inner fortitude was tempered even more by service to his country as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge against Nazi Germany in WWII. Dad received a Purple Heart in Normandy France when he was wounded by shrapnel from a German 88 and carried fragments of it in his right hip until the day he passed into heaven to be with Jesus and God. Bill worked for 42 years as a pressman for Recording and Statistical here in Danville. His favorite hobbies were his cars, reading, military history and his family. William was meek, soft spoken, and a true gentleman. Yet beneath that kind demeanor lived the most unselfish and noble spirits we have ever known. He never complained about pains or ill health or work and thought more of others than of himself. Bill was always there to give service, to help others, to donate blood, and to be a quiet, reliable, and loving father and husband. That incredible kind of love will be missed terribly by his family every day we have left living on earth. It is a true loss, yet thanks to the promise of God and Jesus, it is not a PERMANENT loss. We will see Dad again in Heaven, and that is our solace and comfort. Blessed be the name of Almighty God and thanks to Jesus who has allowed all those who believe in him to conquer death and have everlasting life. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM on Monday May 8, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be William H. Byram. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1PM to 2PM at the funeral home.
