RIDGE FARM- William Clarence Truett, 94, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 6:30pm on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Clarence was born in Ridge Farm on December 31, 1912, the son of Jacob and Nina Hacker Truett. Both deceased. On July 5, 1935, Clarence married Ms. Dorothy Baird. She preceded him in death in 2004. Survivors include his two children; Bill Truett of Westville, Karin Smoot of Ridge Farm, his six grandchildren; Robby (Kim) Smoot of California, Tony (Lisa) Smoot of California, Teddi (Shane) Barney of Carmel, IN, Keith (Stephanie) Truett of N.C., Jonathan Truett of Westville, and Richard Truett of Westville. Clarence is also survived by his six great-grandchildren; Jessica Smoot, Haley Smoot, Robbie Smoot, Krista Smoot, Victoria Ramsay, Grace Barney, and his sister, Myrtle Gillie of Danville, and two special friends, Stan and Carol Richards of Ridge Farm. His two brothers and two sisters precede Clarence in death. Clarence was a farmer all of his life which he truly enjoyed. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown, and was a graduate of Ridge Farm High School. He enjoyed watching the Price Is Right and the Wheel of Fortune games shows, and working in his garden and solving cross word puzzles. A celebration of the life of William C. Truett is scheduled for 1:00pm on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Final resting place will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm. Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contribution be made to Crown Hill Cemetery.
