William Charles Clemens

Champaign William Charles Clemens, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at his home in Champaign, IL. Bill was born on November 17, 1925 in Aurora, IL, the son of Dorothy Alice Pollzein Ehrman and Carl J. Ehrman. After the death of his mother he was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Lilyan Polzein Clemens and Nicholas J. Clemens. He graduated from Downers Grove Schools and Bradley University. Bill married Mabel Frese on September 13, 1947.

Bill is survived by his wife and three children, Dr. Gary (Connie) Clemens, Burr Ridge, IL; Don (Becky) Clemens, Sharpsburg, GA; & Janice (Phil Held) Silverman, St. Charles, IL; daughter-in-law Joyce Clemens, Peoria, IL; and seven granddaughters, Melissa Simpson, & Amanda (Sam) Harper; Peoria, IL; Melinda (Elias) Solis DeJesus, Charlottesville, VA; Dr. Erin (Dr. Thomas) Tessendorf, Eau Claire, WI; Jennifer Connelly & Sarah Connelly, Champaign, IL; and Mary Rose Connelly, St. Charles, IL; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Clemens; two grandsons, Christopher Clemens and Daniel Connelly; two sisters Delores Mertz and Harriet Schultz.

Bill served his country in World War II as a Navy medic assigned to the Marine Corp. He retired from Hyster Company after 37 years, serving in various capacities. Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Urbana, IL, Carle Auxiliary, Urbana, IL, and American Legion, Post 210, Danville, IL.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 701 E. Florida Ave., Urbana, IL 61801. Pastor Shawn Boylan will officiate. Visitation will be held prior from 9am-11am at the church. A graveside committal with military rites will be held at 10am on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Danville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bills name to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141-9584, Trinity Lutheran Church, 701 E.
