William Charles Burnside, 75, of Danville, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012, of a heart attack after 39 years as President and founder of the William C. Burnside and Company Inc. He was born on October 23, 1936 in Grandview, IL, the son of William Darrell and Juanita (Greason) Burnside. Both are deceased. After his first marriage to Linda, William married Lola Fern Shoeheart on October 10, 1976. She survives along with four children, William (Michelle) Burnside, Tyler Burnside, Scott (Mary) Trovillion, and Mitzi Benard. His twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother, Thomas (Ruth) Burnside also survive him. In addition to his parents, his daughter, Belinda Giovinco also preceded William in death. Bill, as he was known to all of us, will be deeply missed as a father, husband, businessman, phillanthroper, and devout Christian. He was a very religious man, and spent his entire life helping people plan for their future, pick themselves up when they needed and to find God in their hearts. His resume of charitable activities, leadership roles and devotion to Christ would fill a book. Bill was fondly referred to as "Hot wheels" Burnside, because of his love of automobile racing. He was actively involved in the Eastern Illinois University Foundation, DACC Scholarship Foundation, Danville Rescue Mission, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, an active member of the Danville Alliance Church, and involved in numerous Bible study groups. We at William C. Burnside and Co, Inc will strive to maintain the same high level of customer service that we have become known for, at the same location we have occupied since 1983. A special team of investment professionals, Bruce Lindahl and David Brown known as the "Burnside Team", has been established for the purpose of providing clients with the best support and service available and other than raising the bar on standards it will be business as usual, long into the foreseeable future. A Celebration of Life Service for William "Bill" C. Burnside has been scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Alliance Church in Danville. Pastor Ken Cameron has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-6pm on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Private burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, IL on Monday, February 6, 2012.
