William 'Billbob' Erickson

William Robert "BillBob" Erickson, 74, of Georgetown passed away on January 13, 2024 at OSF Medical Center in Danville. He was born in Danville on March 31, 1949 to parents Leah and Charles Erickson.

The U.S. Army veteran could always be found on a riverbank somewhere in Vermilion County at one of his favorite catfish holes. He loved hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and having family get-togethers on the Erickson Family Farm. He enjoyed playing euchre and horseshoes and going to animal auctions. Billbob was a die-hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Go Cubbies Go! He retired from General Motors after 35 years of hard work. Billbob married the love of his life, Rosella, on March 1, 1974.

He is survived by his wife Rosella Erickson of Georgetown; his sons Larry (Trish) Erickson of Georgetown, William (Paula Burgess) Erickson, Jr. of Chrisman; his daughter Billie Jo Erickson of Danville; and his grandchildren Jake Erickson of Champaign, Courtney Erickson of Cayuga, Katie (Rheyse Dice) Erickson of Danville, Beth (Frank Stanis) Erickson of Ridge Farm, Branden (Harley Powell) Harris of Georgetown, Jazzmin Russell of Danville, Paige (Robert Donithan) Legrand of Chrisman, Anthony Harvey of Georgetown, Melody Harvey-Erickson of Georgetown, William R. Erickson III of Georgetown, Dalton Legrand, Tyler (Brooke Gilbert) Warren of Georgetown, and papas special sidekick Wezley Erickson of Georgetown. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Landon Mayberry, Luka Craft, Faybian Erickson, Zeppelin Dice, Jakson Powell, Aalaina Stanis, Aadyn Stanis, Aaxton Stanis, Aacelee Stanis, Lincoln Donithan, Maverick Donithan, Paislee Legrand, Royce Donithan, Bentlee Legrand, Jahara Waters, Jade Waters, Della Bowles, and Daxton Warren; his brother Richard Erickson; and his sisters Sandy McDougal, Julie Shackman, and Charlene Stout. He leaves behind his brother-in-law Tim (Ramona) Rollins; sisters-in-law JoAnn Grider and Sandy Rollins; nephews Steven Tucker, James Grider, Tyler Shackman, and Shawn Doggett; nieces Stacey Doggett, Sara Shackman, Liza Erickson, Jenny Smith, Kemma Grider, and Stephanie (Tony) Ndungu; and special friends Donnie Hawn and Kenny Miller. Billbob had so many "adopted children and grandchildren" throughout the years. He was always willing to offer help to those in need.

Billbob is preceded in death by his parents Charles "Bob" and Leah Erickson; grandparents Joseph and Juliette Schonians; daughters Dawn Marie Erickson, and Grace Christopher; special cousin Jim Bob Tahon; special friends Letha (Herman) Fitzwater and George Snow; brother-in-law Larry Rollins, Jr.; sister-in-law Edna Goodwin; niece Jessica Erickson; and nephew Jon McDougal.

A visitation for Billbob will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 4pm 8 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Houghton Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11 am at the funeral home. He will be buried at Georgetown Cemetery following services. Billbobs family will hold a Celebration of Life in his honor on his beloved family farm in the spring.
