William 'Bill' Oehmke

William Bill Oehmke, 89, of Covington, passed away at 11:24 am, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1931, in Danville, IL, the son of Harry Thomas and Winnie Mae {Rutherford} Oehmke. He was united in marriage to Judy Wortman on March 23, 1974. She will miss him dearly.

Bill is also survived by his children, Judy Howell, Teresa Willoughby, Karl Ramsey, & Donna Ramsey; his grandchildren, Mandy (Mark) Mezo, Doug (Amanda) Howell, Stephanie (Troy) Eller, Briana Ramsey, Gage Randles, & Christian Randles; his great grandchildren, Austin Urso, Jenna Urso, Ian Urso, Isaiah Mezo, Josiah Mezo, Eli Howell, Lincoln Howell, Kelsey Ward, & Jacob Ward; and his great-great grandchildren, Stella Ward & Gracie Ward, & Kooper Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ellen Nelson; and his brother, Ronald Oehmke.

Bill served with the Army in the Korean War as a Field Wireman. He also worked as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed wood bowl carving and going to flea markets. He was also passionate about beating the Slot Machines. Bill spent many hours cooking which he greatly enjoyed. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be significantly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Bills life will be held 12:00pm to 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery in a private service. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Vermillion County Animal Shelter.
