William 'Bill' O. Ellis

INDIANOLA - William O. Bill Ellis, 80, passed away at 10:56am, Monday, February 11th, 2008, at Provena USMC. He was born to Everett F. and Mabel D. (Kendall) Ellis on September 2nd, 1927, on a farm near Scotland, IL. On September 9th, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rosa Rose Lee Thomas. She will miss him dearly. Bill was a lifelong farmer and the sixth generation to farm the land that was homesteaded in 1822 by his family where he still lived. He was a birthright member of the Vermilion Grove Friends Church where he served faithfully on many committees. He has, over the years, belonged to and served many organizations. He was a member of the Antique Car & Tractor Clubs. Bill was a mechanic and appreciated a fine tuned machine. Every year, Bill anticipated the annual camping trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan because he enjoyed camping & fishing with his family and friends. He was a great person and will be missed by many. Those who will miss him include: his brother, Kenneth W. (Margaret) Ellis of Rockville, IN; his sister, Joan Smith of Greenbay, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gene, and sister-in-law, Lois. A celebration of Bills life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, February 14th, 2008, at Vermilion Grove Friends Church. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm prior to the service at the church. He will be laid to rest in Vermilion Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial donations to be given in Bills name to the Vermilion Grove Friends Church. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
