William 'Bill' Mcnamara

Danville- William "Bill" Bartlett McNamara, Sr., 74, of Danville, passed away at 9:28 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on May 15, 1937 in Sheboygan, WI to William A. and Irene Chartre McNamara. He married Elizabeth "Bo" Herrington on June 25, 1966 in Chicago. She survives. Also surviving is a son, William "Billy" B. (Heather) McNamara, Jr. of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Thomas (Wilma) McNamara of Menomonee Falls, WI and John M. McNamara of Largo, FL; two grandchildren, Alexis and Vivian McNamara; sister-in-law Ann Dwyer; brother-in-law Mike Herrington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill began practicing law in Danville in 1968 until his retirement in 2008. Bill attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his undergraduate and also earned his JD Degree through their law school. He continued his support of the University of Wisconsin-Madison throughout life, giving his support to both the sports and academics. Bill's passion for justice was apparent, and he was always willing to help those who needed it. He was a member of the American Bar Association, as well as the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Vermilion Co. Bar Associations. Bill served his country in the United States Army Reserves, ending his duty as a First Lieutenant. He was an avid reader, going through several newspapers a day, but enjoyed books as well. He was a Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan in addition to the University of Wisconsin-Madison teams. Bill also liked to go fishing, cook, and work in the garden. He was an outgoing man, and especially liked the company of friends and family. Most of all, Bill's two granddaughters brought a special joy and love like no other to his life. A service to celebrate the life of Bill McNamara will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Father Greg Nelson will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made in Bill's name to Schlarman Academy or Danville Public Library.
