William Lee "Bill" Barrett, born March 26, 1931 passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 89, just two days prior to his 90th birthday. Bill was born to William Michael Barrett and Ruth Marie (Hutson) Barrett in Danville, IL. Bill was the eldest of 10 children. He attended Danville public schools and married Ann K Byerly on September 2, 1955; she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Also surviving are sons Gregory A (Pam) Barrett, Kerry L. (Cynthia) Barrett and daughter Kim L (Terry) Rosdail. Grandchildren Andy (Jade) Beaumister, Katie (Darrin) White, Kalinda (Alex) Pelham, Lindsay Stewart, Sarah Barrett, Lauren Parr, Hillary Parr, Abby (Jarred) Chandler, Alex (Kayla) Rosdail and Amy (Chase) Robinson and great-grandchildren Declan and Dryce Beaumeister, Landon and Layton White, Isabella Pearman, Chandler Pelham, Kendyll and Karter Stewart, Thorin Bott, Addisyn Chandler and Hudson Robinson. Son William L (Joy) Barrett and daughter Gwendolyn S (Bill) Burke from a previous marriage.
Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, home projects, spending time with family, grilling and playing cards. He was an industrial painter, construction worker on Interstate 74 when it was being built in east central Illinois, and then an appliance repairman for Sears & Roebuck from 1959 to retirement in 1996. He could repair almost anything and enjoyed working at his bench.
