William 'Bill' Kuras

Danville- William “Bill” J. Kuras, 86, of Danville passed away at 6:57 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. He was born on June 18, 1927 in Westville, IL, the son of Tony and Mary Tetlin Kuras. He married Barbara Jean Nelson on April 6, 1947 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Danville. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Jim (Nancy) Kuras of Bismarck and Jeff (Joyce) Kuras of Danville; two daughters, Tammy (Kelly) Heffernan of Danville and Tracy (Kim) Barnstable of Maryland; nine grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Toler, Jenny (Derek) Coon, Brett (April) Kuras, Wes Brady, Kara Barnstable, Stasch (Amy) Kuras, Chris (Kiley) Brady, Sadie Jean (Jason) Baer, and Kyle Barnstable; and eleven great-grandchildren, Austin and Josh Toler, Ty, Kylee, and Brady Coon, EllyAsa, Annaleah, Mikayla, and Jace Kuras, and Jaxon and Logan Brady. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Dorothy Gilbreath. After graduating high school, Bill proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during WWII. After, he went on to work as a railroad conductor. He loved his job and his co-workers and retired in 1989 after 42 years of service. He was also mechanically inclined and could fix anything, even building his own home in the 1950s. Bill had several hobbies including fly fishing, woodworking, and repairing his wood working tools, but his true passion was golf. He loved to gather his golfing buddies and hit the links. Bill also loved his family dearly, and enjoyed helping his wife landscape the yard and tend to her flowers. A service to celebrate the life of Bill Kuras will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michael J.
