William 'Bill' Kinney

William Bill Kinney, 71 of Danville, passed away at 8:09am on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Catlin, IL, the son of William and Helen (Stenner) Kinney. Both are deceased. On May 21, 1988, Bill married Susan Bireline in Georgetown. They were married 22 years, until her passing on May 20, 2011. Surviving family include his sons; Scott (Teri) Kinney, Douglas Kinney, and step-son; Andy Ballard. His daughter; Sara (Ralph) Washington, and step-daughter; Kim Hensler. His eight grandchildren; Reece Kinney, Spencer Kinney, Jenna Kinney, and Jordan, Akoyia, Ambria, Isaiah, Isaac. His two brothers, Albert (Judy) Kinney , Kenneth (Doris) Kinney, four sisters; Lois (Ron) Warner, Edith (Joe) Earl, Dorothy Peevler, Jeanne (George) Conklin, his mother and father-in-law, Helen and Bill Pentecost, and his sisters-in-law, Mary Kinney, and Betty Kinne, Patty (Mark) Parrish, and Sue(Jerry)Davis also survive him. In addition to his parents, and wife, Susan, 3 brothers; John, Charles, and Joseph Kinney, and an infant daughter; Leah Kinney, preceded Bill in death. He joined the Danville Fire Department on Jan 1, 1966, and served 22 years, retiring as lieutentant on May 15, 1989. Outside of the fire department, he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, bowling boating, and being with his family. He was an Indianapolis Colts fan, and was known for his witty sense of humor. Bill touch the lives of everyone he met. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of Life Service for William Bill Kinney will begin at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the Kinney family has asked that donations be made to either the Danville Cancer Center, or the donors favorite charity.
