William "Bill" Huffstutler, 89, of Danville passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis on February 11, 2022. He was born on September 29, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to parents Ruth and William Huffstutler.
Bill is survived by his children William (Adell) Huffstutler, Denise Stezler, Michael Huffstutler, Cynthia (Kevin) Booth, and James (Missy) Huffstutler. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Winnie Jean Huffstutler, his parents, and siblings Nellie, Pat, and Jim.
Bill served in the United States Army from June 14, 1950 until June 30, 1970. Bill served multiple tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded many commendations including 3 Purple Hearts, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Bill was POW for a short time in Korea where he was able to escape and make it back to allied lines. Bill worked for the Department of Defense until his retirement in June 1995.
He enjoyed spending his free time doing wood working and remodeling for local businesses in St. Augustine, Florida.
Per Bills wishes, cremation rites were accorded by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. He will be placed to rest at Danville National Cemetery with his wife Winnie at a later date.
