William 'Bill' Hess

William W. Hess, 75 of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:08 PM at his home in Georgetown. He was born October 27, 1941 in Danville, the son of Walter H. and Lillian {Mendenhall} Hess. He married Shirley Ann Boland on December 29, 1962 in Georgetown and he has now joined her in heaven along with his little buddy, Puddles. Surviving are his daughter, Tawna (David) Bartley of Villa Grove, many other relatives and friends, and the Cook family who have been so wonderful in helping the family during Bill's last few days. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife; sister, Mary Jane Hess; and dog, Puddles. Bill worked at Danville Metal as a grinder for 43 years. On the day that he retired he moved into his new home. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed collecting and learning the history of guns. Bill also liked to spend time in his garden, growing vegetables and flowers, as well as mowing the yard. He was an outdoors type of man and loved to be in nature. He would take many rides through Forrest Glen looking at deer and eagles. He and Puddles would also sit and look for birds together while at home. Bill was a computer surfer, had a keen eye for wildlife, and was a great father. His presence will be greatly missed. A celebration of Bill's life will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Houghton- Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown. Pastor Bob Cruea will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials in Bill's name can be made to Forrest Glen Conservation Fund or the Humane Society.
