WILLIAM BILL O. HARPER William Bill O. Harper, 61, of Danville, passed away at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Bill was born on August 6, 1948, in Danville, the son of Lee Edward and Martha Marie (Leeper) Harper. He is survived by his brother- Milton Cricket (Sandy Block) Harper of Danville; five sisters- Dolly Amos of Bismarck, Polly (Phil) Hawley of Westville, Betty (Robert) Elliott of Knoxville, Tennessee, Martha Parson of Danville and Barbara Harper of Danville; several nieces and nephews and two very special great-nephews- Jonathan and Austin Willhite. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Russell Harper and Robert Harper, and two brothers-in-law- Homer Amos and Larry Parson. Bill served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971. He served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany during that time. Bill worked for several years at the VA Hospital, in the housekeeping department, until he retired. After retiring, Bill worked as a manager for Diversco Cleaning Company at Quaker in Danville. Bill greatest enjoyments in life was spending time with his family and working. A Celebration of the life of William Bill O. Harper will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at the VA Protestant Chapel, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Protestant Chapel. Following the service Bill will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #210. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in Bills name.
