William 'Bill' Grimes

William Bill Grimes, 78, of Danville passed away at 1:13pm, Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home, Danville. He was born on September 24, 1931, the son of Wilbur and Ruth {Powell} Grimes, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Patricia Reefe on January 10, 1959, in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. Those who will also miss him include: his son, William Edward (Pam) Grimes of Sanford, FL; his daughter, Phyllis (Iradj Altamonte) Grimes of Springs, FL; his grandchildren, Brian Mohamadzadeh, Ryan Mohamadzadeh, Dorothy Wright, & Myndi Hamblin; his five great grandchildren; his brother, James (Mary) Grimes of Kankakee, IL; and his sister, Rebecca (Jeff) Ellis of Yedo, IN. His son, David, and sister, Phyllis, preceded him in death. Bill worked as an ironworker with Ironworkers Local #380 in Champaign for 36 years. He belonged to the Bethel Baptist Church of Georgetown and the Westville American Legion Post #51. Bill enjoyed going golfing, as well as, going fishing. He also enjoyed reading and throwing horseshoes. A celebration of Bills life will be held at 12:00pm (noon), Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Danville National Cemetery. Pastor Gerald McPhillips will officiate. Visitation will be 9am to 11am, Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church, 501 S Main St, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given in Bills name to Bethel Baptist Church of Georgetown. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
