William (Bill) Green

William Green (Bill), 84, of Champaign died Friday (Nov. 8, 2024) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. 

He was born October 24, 1940 in Urbana, Illinois, son of Edward and Ruth (Bobbie) Green. He married Cynthia (Cini) Thompson on October 9, 1958. They had three children. A brother Richard Green preceded him in death. 

Surviving are his daughter, Kelly Gorbold (Geoff) of Tabernash, Colorado, his sons Bill Green (Teresa) of Champaign and Bob Green (Trang) of Glen Ellyn; granddaughters, Amalie McCormick (Marshall) of Ithaca, NY, Meghan Gentry of Champaign, Chelsea Lenzini (Alec) of Highland, Lindsie Green of Chicago, Haelie Lythberg (Erik) of Glen Ellyn, Ashley Green of Irvine, California; grandsons, Geoffrey (GT) Gorbold (Danneyi), of Rochester NY, Austin Green of Chicago, Thomas Green of St. Louis, MO; 11 great-grandchildren. 

Bill graduated from Champaign High School in 1958. His career was in the bowling business for 40 years where he used that as an avenue to share the love of Jesus with people. He loved to bowl and play golf but most of all loved to be around his family. Bill and Cini spent the last 19 years serving Jesus at various non-profit organizations, visiting missionaries overseas while focused on loving and helping young people from all over the world living in the USA. They were married 67 years. 

The memorial service will be held at 10AM, December 7, Meadowbrook Community Church, 1902 S Duncan Rd, Champaign, IL 61822. In lieu of gifts and flowers, please send donations to Meadowbrook Community Church missions department.
