William 'Bill' Eugene Lomax

Oakwood - William "Bill" Eugene Lomax, 83, of Oakwood passed away at 8:32 am on September 3, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. "Bill" was born on January 12, 1934 in Catlin, IL the son of William and Mary Grace (Lovett) Lomax. He married Mildred Hopkins on January 9, 1956 in Tilton, IL and she survives. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mildred Lomax of Oakwood, four sons, William R. "Bob" (Brenda) Lomax of Oakwood, IL, Richard "Rich" Lomax of Danville, IL, Michael "Mike" (Dody) Lomax, of Danville, IL, Steven "Steve" Lomax of Oakwood, IL, two daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" (Jeremy) Lomax-Shumate of Oakwood, IL and Toni (Rick) Wagle of Jamaica, IL, 19 grandchildren, Cory, Kayce, and Ricky Wagle, Robert Crippin, Mendi Schmit, Abby Finley, Audrey and Allison Shumate, Dane Lomax, April Burroughs, Trent and Eli Lomax, Connor and Kelsie Lomax, Amanda and Jeremy Marack, Michael and Ryan Phillips, and Matt Moore as well as 12 great-grandchildren, Cole, Ethaniel, Keelie, Kylie, Robbie, Will, Keegan, Maci, Alaina, Waylon, Alivia and Annie. "Bill" is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Delores "Pat" Sapp, one granddaughter, Jessica Wagle as well as two daughters-in-law, Cindy Lomax and Jo Lomax. "Bill" was a retired Millwright from General Motors after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Catfishing Club and loved spending time with his family, especially taking them out fishing. "Bill" also enjoyed mushroom hunting and riding around in his golf cart with his dog "Rowdy". Visitation will be held from 10:00 to Noon Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sunset's Oakwood Funeral Chapel 105 E. South Main St. Oakwood, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sunset's Oakwood Funeral Chapel 105 E. South Main St. Oakwood, IL. Jeremy Shumate will officiate.
