Urbana - William "Bill" C. Wilson, 70, left this earth on February 22, 2024. He was born on May 11, 1953 in Danville, IL to Chet and Dorothy Wilson.
He is survived by daughter Rachel (Toby) Wolfe, son Jackson Stockdale-Wilson, grandson Bailey (Marissa) Wolfe, special friend Patricia McFall and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill graduated from Danville High School in 1971 and attended SIU Carbondale. He wore many hats throughout his career, starting as a pastry chef in Los Angeles, California. He also worked at General Motors, Robintech, District 118 and lastly MTD, retiring after 30 years of service as a bus operator.
After retiring from MTD he took many WCIA sponsored Holiday Tours. He was passionate about nature and hiking, recycling, music, star-gazing, anything Apple or Mac related, and cars of all kinds, especially Volkswagen. He loved talking craft beer, scotch whiskey and cigars with his grandson Bailey. He enjoyed family get-togethers and always brought unique gifts and food to share. Bill will be remembered for his curious nature, youthful spirit and being quick with a joke to entertain. He excelled in telling terrible "Dad" jokes. Per Bills wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. His family will host a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Urbana Free Library or plant a tree in Bills memory at alivingtribute.org.
