William "Bill" A. Elliott

Cayuga, Ind. - William "Bill" A. Elliott, 63, of Cayuga, passed away at 10:07 a.m. EDT Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Union Hospital Clinton. Bill was born July 20, 1952 in Danville, Illinois the son of Clarence and Mary (Chow) Elliott. He married Kim R. Krise on August 18, 1979 in Kokomo, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kristina (Kelly) Turner and Julie (Teyler) Neier both of Danville, Illinois; his mother, Mary Elliott of Georgetown, Illinois; grandson, Oakley Liam Neier and granddaughter due in October, Audrey Jane Neier. Bill was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Don Elliott. Bill retired from the maintenance department at the former Newport Chemical Depot. He worked as a farmer hand for Gary Emmert in Georgetown, Illinois, retiring in 2015. Bill was a 1970 graduate of Georgetown High School and a 1972 graduate of Danville Junior College earning his associates degree in agricultural mechanics. He was a big NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon and Bill Elliott before their retirements. Bill also enjoyed restoring antique tractors and was a talented fabricator, being able to make anything that was useful for farming. He had a love for God and enjoyed serving others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson. Funeral services: 3 p.m. EDT Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Eugene United Methodist Church in Eugene, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
