Willard L. Penrod, Sr.

Tilton- Willard L. Ted Penrod, Sr., 82, of Tilton passed away at 6:55 PM on Saturday February 27, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on December 10, 1927 in Libertyville, IN the son of George and Clara Penrod. He married Eleanor Elkins on July 15, 1955 in Terre Haute, IN. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2009. Surviving are 4 sons Willard L. Penrod, Jr. of Tilton, George (Diane) Penrod of Danville, Karl (Sandy) Penrod of West Lebanon, IN and James (Patricia) Penrod of Danville; 2 daughters Linda (Charles) Cole of Paoli, IN and Claire (Steve) Matheny of Danville; 2 sisters Irene Baker of Arkansas and Louise (Charles) Coletti of Ft. Myers, FL; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Owen, Paul, and Leilghly Penrod, 2 sisters Bonnie Cobble and Grace Sanquenity, 2 grandsons Justin Penrod and Rick Reavis, and 1 granddaughter Emily. Willard served his country by becoming an MP in the United States Army. He worked as a nurses assistant at the VA Medical Center in Danville until his retirement in 1987 and also as a school bus driver for many years. He enjoyed working outside and loved his grandkids and dogs. Willard's family would like to thank North Logan Healthcare for their kindness. Graveside services for Willard L. Ted Penrod, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday March 4, 2010 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville. A visitation will be held prior to the services on Thursday from 12:30-1:30 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville.
