Wilda I. Pierce

Danville – Wilda I. Pierce, 82, of Danville, passed away at 10:45 AM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on January 4, 1944, in Danville to William and Mabel (Estock) Basinger. She married James Pierce on March 20, 1963, in Danville. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2007.

Wilda worked in healthcare as a CNA for most of her career, first at the physical therapy department at St. Elizabeth hospital in Danville. She then spent several years at a local chiropractor office until moving on to palliative care at the VA Illiana Health Care System where she remained until her retirement. After she retired from VA, Wilda worked as a bus monitor for District #118. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors watching the birds in her yard or working in her flower garden. Most of all, Wilda loved her family and especially cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandkids.

Private services to celebrate the life of Wilda Pierce will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville.
