Danville Wesley F. Fanson, 87, of Radford, VA, formerly of Catlin, IL passed away at 11:50 PM at New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA on December 14, 2020.
Wesley was born on November 12, 1933 the son of Arthur and Rowena (Horneman) Fanson in Danville, IL. He married Margaret A. Albert on June 16, 1962 in Danville, IL and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2011.
Survivors include one daughter, Cassandra (Jason Haynes) Harrison of Radford, VA, and one son, Doug (Tammi) Fanson of Gibson City, IL, former son-in-law, Ty (Pamela Joyner) Harrison of Draper, VA, two sisters, Martha Ann Siddens of Bismarck, IL, Rowena Rogers of Danville, IL, four grandchildren, Kennedy Jo Fanson, Kellan Douglas Fanson, Tyler John (Eden) Harrison, Weston James (Casey Seagraves) Harrison, one great granddaughter, Payton Harrison, one great grandson, Kacen Harrison. Many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Wesley is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret, one infant daughter, Christina.
Wesley graduate from the General Motors Institute (Kettering University)-Industrial Engineer College and served in the Illinois Army National Guard, Troop C 1st Recon Squad 106th Armor Division as a Tank Commander. Wesley worked at TeePak in Danville for 35 as the Plant Manager of Maintenance and Engineering. He served on the Catlin School Board of Education, was a Junior Achievement Board Member, a Catlin Youth Football Board Member and President of the Catlin Athletic Boosters.
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Raymie Gordon will officiate. A Public Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210.
It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation wear a mask and practice social distancing.
