Wendell D. Windy Goodner, 74, of Danville, Illinois passed away on September 16, 2010 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Wendell was born July 26, 1936 in Blount Township son of Fred and Dorothy (Redman) Goodner. He married Dorothy E. Peck on June 24, 1956 at the Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel in Danville. She survives along with daughter Connie (Mike) Ohl of Danville and their children Christopher and Hannah Ohl both of Danville, daughter Karen (Jeff) Lane of Bismarck and their children Shaina, Eryn, and Sahara Lane all of Danville. Brothers: Keith (Doris) Goodner and Terry (Cathy) Goodner all of Danville; sisters: Diana (Ralph) Thomason of Bismarck, Anna Mae (Jim) Wallen of Bloomington, and Gladys Joslin of TX; special cousin Darrell Redman of Danville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gerald Goodner and Louis Gene Goodner. Wendell was a 54 graduate of Henning High School where he managed the basketball team. He farmed for 40+ years with his wife Dorothy until retiring in the winter of 98. He also did mechanic work and sold seed out of the shop. Wendell was a member of CrossRoads Christian Church in Danville for a number of years, and was a life member of the former Old Union Church. Windy enjoyed watching John Wayne Westerns, As The World Turns, and Monday night wrestling, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. A Celebration of Wendells Life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 20, 2010 at CrossRoads Christian Church with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday afternoon at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials may be made to the CrossRoads Christian Church or Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.
